A Musical Fable of Broadway Based on a story & characters by Damon Runyon Music & Lyrics by Frank Loesser Book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows An amateur production by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited.

It’s been a while since the last RHS musical, but we’re delighted that the long wait is over! Come and enjoy this classic Broadway musical!

Dive into a world of big-hearted but slow-witted small-time gamblers as they search for a safe place for their dice game. Feel for nightclub singer-dancer Miss Adelaide as she hopes to persuade her man, Nathan Detroit, finally to tie the knot: after all, they have been engaged for 14 years! Pity her fiancé, facing pressure from gun-toting heavies as he tries to raise the money to pay off someone so that the oldest established dice game in New York can fly again. Wonder if the highest roller of them all, Sky Masterson, can win a bet by taking Miss Sarah Brown, the starchy head of the Save-a-Soul Mission to Cuba for dinner. There is a happy ending, of course, but only after much complication! With a great score by Frank Loesser (Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat; Luck be a Lady; I’ve Never Been in Love Before) and witty dialogue based on the stories of Damon Runyon, this is a great way to round off September.
