featuring the Royal Hospital School Big Band Derek Nash is a British multi award-winning  jazz  axophonist, band leader and recording engineer. For over 30 years, Nash has led Sax Appeal, which won the John Dankworth Award for Ensemble in the 1998 BT Jazz Awards, and subsequently the British Jazz Award for best small group in 2000. He also leads the funk/fusion band Protect the Beat. He has been a member of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004, and will be visiting RHS with his band to conduct a day of workshops with the Big Band before a thrilling evening of jazz. One of the busiest and most beloved musicians on the British jazz scene, this evening he’ll be joined by Chris Ingham (piano), Geoff Gascoyne (bass) and George Double (drums) and will play selections from his albums “You Gotta Dig It To Dig It, You Dig?” And “Joyriding”.
